On Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2020, Education Next senior editor Paul E. Peterson appeared at the White House with President Trump and Vice President Pence as part of the “Getting Children Safely Back to School” event. Peterson talked about the advantage for students of in-person school as opposed to online distance learning from home.

Earlier this summer, Peterson, who is the director of the Harvard Program on Education Policy and Governance, wrote for Education Next on The Price Students Pay When Schools Are Closed.
